ART - DidgeridoosDidgeridoo making is an incredibly challenging, but equally incredivly rewarding for those who manage to triumph. The activity again holds special cultural significance for the Jawoyn people. Making a didgeridoo involves skinning the wood, waxing the ends and branding the didgeridoo. It is important to remember that the pieces of wood have already been specifically selected prior to the festival, and have been lying in a nearby river for 2-3 weeks. This ensures they are malleable enough to mould into a didgeridoo. Whilst the full process takes about 3 weeks, visitors will find the work required at the festival demanding. Any visitor leaving with a didgeridoo will have an incerdibly satisfying and authentic memento of the Barunga festival.
