camping on site

There are plenty of campsites throughout the community, marked on the site map. Festival staff at the gate will direct you to these areas.  All campsites are unpowered.

Showers and toilets

There are four toilet blocks in the community and supplementary port-a-loos are situated near all campsite areas.

There are minimal shower facilities as well as a refreshing (croc-free) creek by the APRA Acoustic Tent.

Good to know

Campfires - campfires are permitted, but you must bring your own firewood. Please be respectful of surrounding campsites.

Power - all campsites are unpowered, generators are not permitted.

Dogs - dogs are not encouraged at Barunga Festival, however if you do choose to bring them, please do so at your own risk.

Caravans - caravans, campervans and motor homes are welcome, but generators are not permitted.

Staying Elsewhere

Self-sufficient camping is the only option in Barunga during the festival. There is no hotel in the community. Hotel, motel and caravan park options are available in Katherine (80km NW) and Mataranka (83km SW).

Djilpin Arts in Beswick (30km east) have four architecturally-designed guest rooms available in the Djakanimba Pavilions, where your room rate goes straight back into a local Indigenous enterprise that supports remote art, culture, training and employment.
